At 5 p.m., after watching KIKI and H3F, we waited eagerly at the Ground Stage, which was packed with a curated lineup of incredible indie acts. It was easy to want to camp out at this stage all day.

As the stage setup was completed, the intro beat of Limo filled the air, capturing everyone’s attention with a slick drum line. The Crane ran on stage with high energy, greeting everyone before launching into a cool rap against an R&B groove. The hook, intense and full of rage, cut off with impressive precision, setting the tone for an unforgettable show.

Next came Unique Design, with a beat and drumwork perfectly in sync. The Crane’s commanding stage presence and intense gaze were mesmerizing, his soulful R&B vocals in the hook both seductive and hypnotic. The music looped in a way that pulled us into his world, making it impossible not to move along.

Next, he performed Natural Ability, the first track from his full album, a softer, playful song that showcased his vocal skills and expressive delivery. His ad-libs added flair, proving his artistry was just as impressive in the softer moments.

The crowd’s energy peaked with Take Your Time, an old-school rap with an irresistibly catchy hook that had us all moving our shoulders to the beat. The Crane invited the crowd to wave their hands, and the response was enthusiastic, creating a high-energy vibe that spread through the audience.

Taking a moment to chitchat, The Crane shared how excited he was to be performing in Thailand for the first time. With so many stages at the festival, he was grateful to everyone who chose to stay with him, prompting loud cheers from the crowd.

Moving into I Love You More (than adore), a groove-heavy track with emotionally resonant vocals, he captured the crowd’s attention effortlessly. PRINCESS followed, a song that hooked us from the start with its expertly crafted rhymes and powerful pre-hook vocals, showcasing his dynamic rap style.

Noticing more people gathering, The Crane reintroduced himself with a laugh, explaining his love for songwriting on piano, creating R&B tracks in both English and Mandarin. Even if listeners couldn’t understand the language, he hoped they’d enjoy the music.

Jokingly, he mentioned that while he wasn’t Japanese, he loved ramen, and one day, he might write a song called “Pad Thai Girl” just for his Thai fans. He then launched into Ramen Boy, a sensual track reflecting on past love, with a haunting synth solo mixed with heavy drums that left a lasting impression.

Introducing his latest release, DISEASE, The Crane hinted at more songs from the new album coming soon. The piercing synths and whistling sound gave the track a surprising, captivating edge with hints of 90s rock. The intense bridge had the crowd spellbound, making this a track that stayed with us long after the show.

Before his final song, The Crane introduced his drummer and DJ, and by then, the crowd at the front had grown significantly. Don’t Mind closed the set with tight beats and enticing vocals, keeping us enthralled until the very end.

Although he performed with just a drummer and DJ, The Crane’s charisma and talent filled the stage. Each song showcased his vocal and musical range, leaving a lasting impression. It’s a shame for those who missed this show; bands from Taiwan, each bring a unique flavor that differs from Thai acts, offering a fresh sound to discover. Here’s hoping The Crane continues to grow his Thai fanbase and explores more opportunities in Thailand!
